SECTION 09940 – SENZA FINÉ TIMELESS FINISHES- ITALIAN PLASTERS

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY
  1. This Section includes the following:
    1. Senza Finé Timeless Finishes - Italian Plaster architectural finish as scheduled and where indicated on the Drawings.
  2. Description of Finish:
    1. Senza Finé Timeless Finishes Italian Plasters are a proprietary finish of integrally colored plaster, hand troweled in a three-coat process to a thickness of 1/16”-3/32”. It is applied over properly prepared substrates creating a soft, mottled appearance with translucent properties to match approved control sample for color and texture.
1.2 RELATED SECTIONS
  1. Gypsum Board: Section 09250, application and finishing of gypsum board to receive Senza Finé Timeless Finishes - Italian Plaster Finishes.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
  1. Product Data: For each product indicated.
  2. Samples: For each Senza Finé Timeless Finishes - Italian Plaster indicated, submit two samples of each finish. One sample is to be retained by Architect for quality control and a signed sample is to be returned to contractor.
  3. Maintenance Data: Provide maintenance data for each coating system utilized.
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
  1. Source Limitations for Senza Finé Timeless Finishes - Italian Plaster Products: Applicator shall be Senza Finé Timeless Finishes, Inc.
  2. Finish Mockups: On jobs in excess of 3,000 square feet, apply a mockup of at least 32 square feet on job site to demonstrate color, aesthetic effects and qualities of materials and execution.
    1. Apply mockups for the following applications:
    2. Walls and Partitions: Smooth and textured finishes.
    3. Simulate finished lighting conditions for review of mockups.
    4. Approved mockups may become part of the completed Work if undisturbed at time of Substantial Completion.
  3. Finish Mockups: On jobs less than 3,000 square feet, approved submittals shall be used as standard for finished product.
1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS
  1. Substrate must be sound and dry. Area must be free of dust, dirt and water.
  2. Temperature must be 50 degrees or above and must be maintained above 50 degrees at least 72 hours following application.
1.6 WARRANTY
  1. Senza Finé Timeless Finishes, Inc. warrants all material and installations against defects in workmanship for a period of 1 year.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURER
  1. Senza Finé Timeless Finishes - Italian Plasters are specially formulated and applied by Senza Finé Timeless Finishes, Inc., 23430 Rock Haven Way, Suite 270 Dulles, VA 20166, 866-752-6603.
2.2 SENZA FINÉ TIMELESS FINISHES - ITALIAN PLASTERS
  1. Manmade Acrylic Polymer: Available in a wide range of colors and textures, this acrylic polymer is formulated for ease of application directly over substrate indicated.
    1. Products:
      1. Senza Finé Timeless Finishes, Inc.: Italian Plaster - “Veneziano”.
  2. 42% Marble Mixture: Mixed with slaked lime and water. Contains highest quality marble that is broken, ground and sifted. Available in fine or coarse finish.
    1. Products:
      1. Senza Finé Timeless Finishes, Inc.: Italian Plaster - “Marmorino”.
  3. 100% Natural Materials: Premixed coating of ground marble, lime and water. Contains a minimum of 42% marble. Available in fine or coarse finish.
    1. Products:
      1. Senza Finé Timeless Finishes, Inc.: Italian Plaster - “Old World”.
2.3 FINISHES
  1. General: Provide manufacturers standard range of colors for each Senza Finé Timeless Finishes - Italian Plaster type utilized.
  2. Available range will vary with type of Italian Plaster selected.
PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 PREPARATION
  1. Gypsum Board Substrate:
    1. Clean surfaces to remove dust, loose particles, grease, oil, incompatible curing compounds, form-release agents, and other foreign matter and deposits that could impair bond with bonding compound and plaster.
    2. Remove ridges and protrusions greater than 1/8 inch and fill all depressions. Allow to set and dry.
    3. Surface must meet requirements for level 4 gypsum drywall finish per Gypsum Associations GA-214 requirements prior to acceptance.
  2. MDF Plywood Substrates: Clean surfaces to remove dirt, grease, oil, and other foreign matter and deposits that could impair bond with plaster.
  3. Priming:
    1. Prime all surfaces with 100% acrylic latex flat primer.
  4. Tolerances: Substrate shall provide a less than 1/16 inch offset between planes of panels and less than 1/8” in 8 feet deviation.
3.2 SENZA FINÉ TIMELESS FINISHES - ITALIAN PLASTER APPLICATION
  1. General: Comply with ASTM C 843 – “Application of Gypsum Veneer Plaster” and Senza Finé Timeless Finishes - Italian Plaster manufacturer's written recommendations.
  2. Do not proceed with application until surface condition has been verified as acceptable.
  3. Senza Finé Timeless Finishes - Italian Plaster Finish
    1. Base Coat: Apply per manufacturers standard requirements.
    2. Finish Coat: Apply per manufacturers standard requirements to match approved mock up.
    3. Sealer: manufacturer’s standard sealer to provide approved finish.
3.3 PROTECTION
  1. After completion of Senza Finé Timeless Finishes - Italian Plaster work: provide signs, barricades, etc. as required to protect finished coating system from damage by others.
